Mr.Justice Mian Mehboob Ahmad
08-01-1997 to 07-01-2000

H.No.132, Upper Mall, Lahore.

            Born in Baghdad(Iraq) on 30th July, started his legal practice in 1957 after obtaining degree in Law and practiced as a an Advocate of the High Court of West Pakistan also as advocate of supreme Court of Pakistan for about 20 years.
            He was an well respected eminent member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and practiced mostly on the constitutional and civil sides, particularly on Commercial matters.
            He was elevated as Judge of Lahore High Court, Lahore on 3rd June , 1978. He was also Chairman Punjab Local Councils Election authority.Mr Justice Mian Mehboob Ahmad was elevated as Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court on 3rd January 1991 which office he held that till 27th June 1994, then Government appointed him as Judge of Federal Shariat Court but he refused to accept the appointment where upon the notification for his retirement was issued in august, 1994. However in famous Judges’s case decided by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 24th March, 1996. It was held that the appointment of Mr.Justice Mian Mehboob Ahmad as Judge of the Federal Shariat Court was unconstitutional. Inconsequence thereof the notification of his retirement as Chief Justice Lahore Hugh Court was rescinded by the President of Pakistan and he was deemed to have continued as Chief Justice High Court till 29th July, 1995.
           He was elevated as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court on 8th January, 1997 and worked till expiry of his term on 7.1.2000.
